from(the) beginning to(the) end

They listenedA\frac{\text{listened}}{\text{A}} eagerlyB\frac{\text{eagerly}}{\text{B}} to his talkC\frac{\text{to his talk}}{\text{C}} from the beginning to the end.D\frac{\text{from the beginning to the end.}}{\text{D}} (《英语高考精典》,

Dfrom the beginning to the end 应改为 from beginning to endfrom beginning to end 是习惯用语,不可以加 the。”但是,我认为 from the beginning to the end 也是正确的。

A Comprehensive Grammar of the English Language

from beginning to end or: from the beginning to the end (p. 280)
