learn

learn 和 study 的相同处: 都作“学习”解, 在一定的场合可以互换, 如上面的两句。再如:

He is learning(studying) French now. 他在学习法语。

learn 与 study 的不同处:

A. learn 可用于初级阶段的“学习”，而 study 用于高深阶段的“学习”“研究”，两者不可互换：

1. The child is learning to talk. 这孩子在学说话。

2. ... so Marx began to learn Russian. ……所以,马克思开始学习俄语。

3. She's at university studying law. 她在大学学习法律。

4. They are studying the structure of the atom. 他们在研究原子结构。

B. learn 可表示“学会”“学到”“得知”的意思, 而 study 无此含义:

1. If they cannot do this, they have not really learned the spirit of the foreign language ... 如果做不到这一点，他们就没有真正学到外语的本质……

2. He studied hard and finally learned the lesson. 他努力学习,终于把那一课学会了。

3. They are properly guided to use the knowledge learned. (上海高考,95-44) 正确地引导他们运用已学到的知识。

4. When I met Albert, he had not yet learned/(learnt) that he would be our new headmaster. (上海会考,94-第二部分-21) 当我遇见阿尔伯特的时候,他还不知道他要当我们的新校长了。

C. “向……学习”“从……学到”只能用 learn (from), 而不能用 study:

1. We must learn from Lei Feng. 我们应该向雷锋学习。

2. What can we learn from this story? 我们从这个故事能学到什么呢？

3. He collected information, studied it, did experiments and learnt from the experiences of farmers. 他收集资料，加以研究，进行试验，并向农民学习取经。
