excuse me 是美国英语。在美国的公共场所听到最多的，除了“Thanks”“Thank you”，就算是“Excuse me.”（“对不起”“劳驾”“请问”）了。它用于许多场合：开始同陌生人讲话（如问路、问时间），请求让路，从他人身旁走过去，从人群中挤过去，踏了别人的脚，打断别人的谈话，正在谈话过程中要去接电话，请求别人重复刚才说过的话，不同意对方的观点，等等。在英国英语中则通常使用 sorry（见 sorry ）：
