虽然 think 可以作“想”“认为”解,但是它的过去式 thought 有时含有附加含义:“过去认为”“原以为”,亦即“现在不这么认为了”“原来的想法是错误的”,相当于 had thought。
I thought she would come by but she did not come. 我原以为她会来串门,但是她并没有来。
注意, thought 并非总是具有这种含义。有时含有“我想对了”的意思：
