please 是个什么词？它前面如果不加逗号是否应算为错误？又, Please sit down. 与 Sit down, please. 在语义上有无区别？
please 是一个表示礼貌的副词。它的最常见位置是位于祈使句的句首或句末。这两种句式在语义上是没有区别的。please 位于句末时，它的前面通常要加个逗号。但是，不加逗号，也不能算作错误。例如：
Take a seat please. (CGEL) 请坐下。
Help me lift this box(please). (LDCE) 请帮我提一下这个箱子。

please除了用在祈使句中之外，也可用在表示请求的疑问句中。像Can you...，Could you...，Will you...这样的句子表面上看是表示疑问，实际上却是表示请求。

please 也可以用在表示疑问的疑问句中：

这两个句中的 if you please 意思一样吗?
意思不一样。在句(a)中 if you please 可以用 please 来代替,因为后者是前者的简化形式。在类似句(b)的这类句子中,if you please 是一个表示说话人情态的状语,具有反语意味,用来表达说话人的奇怪、惊讶、愤怒等感情,一般可以译为“竟然”“真是的”“你看多奇怪”“真是奇怪”“(真是)岂有此理”“(真)令人难以置信”等等。
