The US infantryman, while requiring far too luxurious logistical support, put up a nice fight in France...

  1. The tiger is a dangerous animal.
  2. The housewife has a harder life than the office worker.
  3. It has converted the physician, the lawyer, the priest, the poet, the man of science, into its paid wagelabourers.

the history of America, American history

Anglo-Saxon architecture, Japanese history/European history, human evolution, 16th century history, medieval art(中世纪艺术)

the architecture of Anglo-Saxon

the history of Japan/Europe

the evolution of man

the history of the 16th century

the art of the Middle Ages

  1. She's studying European history. (CGEL)

  2. New arts have been born in the course of the history of man. (Fox)

  3. There have been many changes in the history of the English language. (LDCE)

  1. Sugar is bad for you. (LEG)

  2. Milk is good for you. (CGEL)

  3. I've always preferred coffee to tea.

  4. Steel is an alloy of iron. (LEG)

  5. The sugar you bought yesterday has got damp. (LEG)

  6. the coffee in Columbia(TOEFL)

  7. Help! He's fallen into the water. (McArthur)

  8. Modoc is a very good wine.

{This is the fastest horse.

  1. We like him the best of all. (Chambers)

  2. The person who works the hardest should receive the greatest reward. (Wood)

  3. Which of these flowers do you like the best? (参见 the best/best, most/the most)

×Both the boys and girls did well in their examinations.

Both the boys and the girls did... The proposals have now been accepted by both the employers and the workers.

例如: Professor Brown Dr Smith Governor Nelson General MacArthur (参见 the John Lennon)

It takes 80 years for Mediterranean water to be changed with Atlantic water, as there is only one narrow entrance where the Mediterranean meets the Atlantic.

例如:the Yangtze River(长江),the West Lake(西湖),the Atlantic Ocean(大西洋)等。

Atlantic, Mediterranean, Pacific

the Pacific slope[(美)太平洋沿岸诸州]

an Atlantic flight(横越大西洋的飞行)

the Pacific States[(美)太平洋沿岸诸州]

an Atlantic liner(航行于大西洋航线的班船)
