object complement(宾语补足语)1

总论

The managers discussed the plan that they would like to see ____ the next year. A. carry out B. carrying out C. carried out D. to carry out(全国高考,00-22) 答案为 C。但是 see sth. carried out 是个什么结构呢?

在分析 see sth. carried out 之前,应当搞清楚整个句子的结构:that 从句是名词 the plan 的定语从句,其中的关系代词 that 在从句中作 see 的宾语。 They would like to see the plan carried out the next year.

  1. She wanted me to give her some money.

  2. George watched them eat.

  1. They named the baby John.

  2. The public at large still considered her smile a great mystery. (Dan Brown, The Da Vinci Code)

  3. I found him drinking my whiskey.

  4. I have never seen the word used that way before.

  5. Many towns and villages had their water supply cut off because there was no electricity. (SEFC, 2A, p.62)

  1. The man with a toothache thinks everyone happy whose teeth are sound.

  2. I found the film very interesting.

She likes to keep everything in good order.

He found the children all out.

Don't fill her pan too full!

  1. He pushed the door open.

  2. He sells them new.

  3. I can't drink it hot.

The police found that the house had been broken into and a lot of things stolen.(全国高考,90-33)警察发现房子被破门而入,很多东西被盗。

A. The police found a lot of things stolen. (此时 stolen 为宾语补足语) B. The police found that a lot of things had been stolen.

I consider what he did foolish.

  1. I consider what he said (to be) very important. (GPU)

  2. He found what was going around him unusual. (Galsworthy)

The discovery has made possible new techniques for brain surgery.

  1. He thought desirable most of the women in the room. (CGEL)

  2. He has proved wrong the forecasts made by the country's leading economic experts.

  3. We have done things we ought not to have done and left undone things we ought to have done.

  4. They pronounced guilty every one of the accused except the man who had raised the alarm. (GCE)

  5. General Wiltshire called a coward any man who faltered under the heavy mortar fire. (UGE)

He found what was going around him unusual.

  1. A microphone enables a soft tone to be amplified, thus making it possible the gentle renditions of romantic love songs in a large hall. (TOEFL)

  2. Libraries doA\frac{\mathrm{do}}{\mathrm{A}} availablethrough books and avarietyB\frac{\mathrm{a variety}}{\mathrm{B}} of other media—knowledge that has been accumulated through the ages. (TOEFL.)

  3. We have done things we ought not to have done and ____ undone things we ought to have done. A. leaving B. will leave C. left D. leave(全国六级,90.1-56)
