so2

So great is our passion for doing things for ourselves, that we are becoming increasingly less dependent on specialized labour. (New Concept English, Book 3, L. 46) 请问上面句子的主语 our passion 和谓语 is 为什么要倒装?

so + 形容词(或副词) + {助动词+主语+实义动词be+主语}+that\left\{\begin{aligned}& 助动词 + 主语 + 实义动词 \\& be + 主语\end{aligned}\right\} + that 从句(结果状语从句)

  1. {So absurd was his manner that everyone stared.So absurd had been his manner that everyone stared. (CGEL)\left\{ \begin{array}{l}\text{So absurd was his manner that everyone stared.}\\ \text{So absurd had been his manner that everyone stared. (CGEL)} \end{array} \right.

  2. So vigorously did he protest that the authorities reconsidered his case. (CGEL)

  3. So absurd did he look that everyone stared at him. (GCE)

  4. So great was his discomfort that he almost forgot to take a last glimpse of number four, Privet Drive. (J. K. Rowling, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows)

  5. ____ at conveying her underlying message through topical plots and contemporary characters that by 1940 her book had sold some three million copies. A. So successful, Grace L. Hill B. (参见 word order 6^{6} )

So was born the echo-sounding apparatus, now in general use in ships. (New Concept English, Book 4, L.9)

I believe what my husband did was morally wrong. So was lying to me and misleading the American people about it.

从语法形式上看,目的从句常常需要情态动词 (can, could, may, might, should, would)R.

We paid him immediately, so (that) he left contented.

We paid him immediately so (that) he would leave contented.

  1. I'll send him our proposals now so he can have time to consider them before the meeting.

  1. They wanted it, so (that) they agreed to pay more than the normal price.

  2. He went to the lecture early, so he got a good seat.

  3. I took no notice of him, so he flew into a rage.

  1. The school closes earlier so (that) the children can get home before dark.

He injured his foot, so he was unable to play in the match. (Wood)

He's going to the lecture early so (that) he'll get a good seat.

If someone is limp, they have no strength or energy in their body, so that they can be moved easily. (EED)

Do not talk too much to the child during meal times, but let him get on with his food; and do not allow him to leave the table immediately after a meal or he will learn to swallow his food ____ he can hurry back to his toys.

A. so B. until C. lest D. although(全国四级,97.6-78)

Leave the keys out so (that) I remember to take them with me.
