上句中的 prevent 的用法正确吗?

应当记住 prevent 与 forbid 在词义和用法上的区别。前者作“阻止”解，可用于 prevent sb.（from）doing 结构，而 forbid 作“禁止”解，可用于 forbid sb. to do 结构（参见 stop sb. doing）。故上句应改为：The teacher prevented the pupils (from) leaving the classroom. 或 The teach-er forbade the pupils to leave the classroom. 再如：

That is because this professor has a disease which prevents him from speaking. 这是因为这位教授得了一种病，使得他不能讲话了。
They were forbidden to go to the public parks or swimming pools. 他们被禁止去公园和公共游泳池。
