kind/sort/type/species
kind, sort, type 和 species 都作“种”“种类”解, 它们之间有无区别呢?
kind, type 和 sort 常常可以互换。但前两者比后者正式而庄重。另外, sort 可用于贬义。
fruit of various kinds 各种水果
this type of car 这种汽车
They sell many different sorts of wine here. 他们这里出售许多种不同的酒。
What sort of silly question did that student ask? 那个学生问了什么样的愚蠢的问题? species 是生物学用语, 指生物的“种”, 有时指“物种”。
This rare bird has become an endangered species. 这种珍禽已成为濒临灭绝的物种。
[注意]在 kind(sort, type) of 之后要求使用不带冠词的单数名词，见 type。
this kind of + 复数名词作主语, 其谓语动词是使用单数, 还是使用复数?
一般是使用单数。例如： This kind of glasses manufactured by experienced craftsman ____ comfortably. A. is worn B. wears C. wearing D. are worn(全国四级,00.1-47)
——How about the shoes I bought yesterday? ——This kind of shoes ____ easily.
