25 -ity(-ty,-ety)n.[OF, L]=the condition, quality or fact of being~

所以,常常可以看到“形容词后缀+-ity”的复合形式,如-acity,-ality,-anity,-arity,-ability(=-able+-ity),-ibility(=-ible+-ity),-idity,-ility(=-ile+-ity),-ivity(=-ive+-ity),-ocity,-osity(=-ous+-ity),等等。

27 -ize(-ise)v.[F, L, GK]=to make~; to become~; to engage in or use~; to treat in the way of~; to act like~

化),to become~(变成…),to engage in or use~(使用…),to treat in the way of~(按…方,to act like~(像…

29 -logy n.[GK]=the doctrine, study or science of~; the speech or discussion of~

-logy的主要意思是the doctrine, study or science of~(…论,…学,…科)。有时表示它在希腊文中的原意the speech or discussion of~(…

30 -ly a.[ME]=like a~; characteristic of~; suited to~; occuring once a~; of or being a~

的),characteristic of~(有… 的),occuring once a~(每…发生一次的),of or being a~(是…

brotherly[brother n. 兄弟;-ly⇒“characteristic of a brother有兄弟特点的”→]a. like a brother; friendly兄弟般的;友爱的 / Monitor gave the newcomer some brotherly advice.

35 -our(-or)n.[F, L]=the act, state, quality or characteristics of~ing
